Sisters of Saint Joseph of Annecy

First Profession of VSKP Province – 2023

5th January 2023 was a remarkable day for the Sisters of St. Joseph of Annecy, Visakhapatnam Province, as we had the First Profession of our eight Novices Velagada Mariyaratnam, Majji Anjali, Premlatha Hansdak, Badugu Ankitha, Natta Supriya, Sweta Nirupama Parichha and Singarapu Manasa. We thank God for the gift of them to our congregation and for their generous and willing response to follow the Lord. The theme chosen for the day was “Called to a greater love,” reminded them of the sacrifice they need to make and a greater responsibility they have in loving everyone irrespective of all the differences.

The Church was adorned with flowers and lights added colours to the celebration. The solemn celebration began with the Holy Eucharist at 11.00 am. It was a moment of grace and great joy to see them walk towards the Altar with lighted lamps in their hands symbolizing the light of Christ in their lives, ready to be a blessing for others. They were led in procession by their beloved parents on either side, their Novice Mistress Sr. Jeenat Jose, the Provincial Superior Sr. Rose, the Concelebrants and Rev. Fr. K.T. Jose the main celebrant of the day. Then the traditional lamp was lit, invoking Christ the Light of the world. Then Sr. Swarna Jose introduced the new brides to the gathering present there. Those who were to be professed welcomed everyone in their own language. The readings read were specially chosen for this occasion. The homily by Rev. Fr. K.T. Jose, their retreat preacher was thought provoking and inspiring. He highlighted how we can become Eucharist for others. He congratulated the sisters for deciding to follow Jesus through the consecrated way of life and he urged them to remain true to their calling and make their lives fruitful in the service of the people

During the rite of First Profession, the Provincial Superior Sr. Rose received their vows in the presence of the assembly. During the offertory, there was symbolic offering by the Newly Professed. The post communion song sung by the Newly Professed was very meaningful and apt for the occasion. After Holy Communion one of the newly professed proposed vote of thanks. The melodious and rhythmic music and singing made the celebration more lively and meaningful one. After the Eucharistic celebration, there was wishing of the Newly Professed and cake cutting. The grace filled presence of many fathers, sisters from different Congregations and from many of our communities, the presence of their beloved parents, relatives and well wishers added joy to the celebration. Finally, everyone enjoyed the festive meal.
Being convinced of their vocation, and their awareness that everything is a grace and gift from the Lord, we hope and pray that these sisters continue to anchor their lives in the love of Jesus and be a blessing to others.
