Necrology of Sr Laetitia SJA

07-08-1931 To 10-10-2024

Sr Laetitia, began her exciting but adventurous journey, when she left behind her family and everything that was familiar, to embark upon everything that was unknown and uncertain, way back in 1948, along with her four companions – Sr Francina, Sr Maria, Sr Fidelis and Sr. Assunta, only on the basis of ‘Love for God and Love for Humanity’.

Sr. Laetitia, hails from Chengalam, Kottayam Dt. Kerala and was born on 7th August 1931 to Mr. George and Mrs. Mariam, Cheripuram. They were 2 boys and 8 girls amongst whom five have embraced religious life. Four of them joined the Franciscans of St. Mary of the Angels. Sr is now survived by her brother: Mr. Baby George Cheripuram and her three sisters: Sr Marie Pascal, Mrs. Threisiamma Thomas and Mrs. Claramma Benedict. Sr completed her primary schooling at St. Antony’s School, Chengalam and high school from Paika Convent School.
Thereafter, Sr along with her four companions, arrived at Waltair on the 4th December, 1948 and zealously joined the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Annecy. Sister made her First Profession on 7th January 1952 and Final Profession on 5th January 1962. Sr. Laetitia was always a very enthusiastic, assiduous, selfless person, rendering her services tirelessly in various capacities as Boarding-in-charge, Superior, Administrator, Office administrator and Accountant mainly at Maryland Hospital and St. Joseph’s College for Women, and in many of our schools and communities. In the face of any number of hardships and sickness, Sr proved to be always very resilient and tenacious. Sr had a great heart for the poor. Sr lived her religious calling true to its spirit and letter. During the eventide of her life, at Home for the Aged, Sister continued to support our Province through her prayer life and her silent resignation to all her aging inconveniences.
May her soul rest in peace
