The 6th and 7th of November,2024, witnessed the celebration of a kaleidoscope of a fantastic combination or assemblage of talent, skill, and extraordinary genius in the form of VIBRANT VISTA – INDIA – A DELIGHTFUL PHANTASMAGORIA, in St. Joseph’s Girls’ High School, Cuttack.
India is not merely a country; its amongst other things an enigma to the world, a beacon of hope for its people, a sentinel of tradition and culture, and we, are privileged to be called Indians. With the imposing Himalayas framing her face and curvaceous bays at her sides, she is truly beautiful to behold! She has been endowed with beauty in all its forms – a phantasmagoria replete with mesmerizing images from lofty mountain grandeur in the north to the aqua waves lapping up the shores at its coasts, from the sweeping green fields of grain at its core to the ancient tablelands in the south.
Each of the 28 states and 8 Union Territories, evince a distinct character in terms of language, dialect, culture, tradition, cuisine, and apparel. India is truly eclectic and it’s amazing how one country can accommodate so much! St. Joseph’s Girls’ High School, Cuttack, made a humble attempt at exhibiting India, in all its splendour. Starting all the way from Kashmir in the north, to Tamil Nadu in the south, from Gujarat in the west to the Seven Sisters in the east, we have endeavoured the formidable task of bringing to the visitors, the true essence of INDIA – UNITY IN DIVERSITY!
A cyclonic storm had been predicted, but by the grace of the Lord and the blessings of the Almighty God, it was no less than a miracle, that the weather was fine and we were blessed with fair weather on both the days. The Chief Guest for the function was Sister Leena Jacob, the Provincial Superior, of St. Joseph’s of Annecy; the Chief Speaker was Professor Kharavela Mohanty, Sister Martina too was our guest.
It was a visionary canvas, a mirage of vision, presented by the Classes Nursery to Class 10. It was a magical journey that one could embark upon, as one moved from one class to another, in a mesmerising roller coaster ride, as each class presented the States of India – Unity in Diversity as the theme. One got the feel as if one was travelling in a dream like situation from one beautiful state to another. It was a visual treat!
*To begin with, Nursery presented the states of Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh. It was a wonderful presentation of the snow-capped Himalayas, The Vaishnodevi Temple. Their cuisine, their animals, dresses.
* The Preparatory Class presented the States of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Gujarat. It was a mesmerising show of beauty, sparkle and glamour, as one moved from one state to the other.
* Std I and II presented the states of Odisha and Rajasthan and Punjab and West Bengal. The state of Odisha was beautifully represented with its traditional food and festivals, children were dressed in the traditional attire of Odisha, its handloom; Goddess Durga in her different forms, from West Bengal; the folk dance of Rajasthan being performed live by the children, and the ‘dhaba’ of Punjab.

* Std X – portrayed the beautiful states of Uttar Pradesh – The Timeless Heartbeat of India; and Haryana – The Celestial Cradle of Vedic India. It was a mesmerising show of extraordinary talent, where children had created craftwork with their own hands, the landmark monuments, the traditional attire, the cuisine even was prepared by the children. The speciality was that the children were dressed up as characters from History.
We had a continuous flow of visitors – children from other schools, teachers and sisters from Jokalandy, Bhubaneshwar, and other schools of Cuttack, parents of students, Principals from other schools. They were in awe of what met their eyes. They were so dumbstruck with what they saw, that they simply could not describe their happiness in words. They were all in praises and appreciation for the immense efforts put up by the children and teachers.
It was an all-round endeavour with immense hard work, sincere efforts, extreme dedication, on the part of our Principal, Vice Principal, teachers, support staff and students and a wholehearted support and involvement of parents, that brought about the grand success of VIBRANT VISTA!!! Finally, the blessings of God were tremendous.
