DELEGATION DAY AND SISTER BREDA'S FEASTDAY CELEBRATION
February 3rd was chosen to have our Delegation Day and to celebrate the feastday of our Superior General, Sister Breda. The programme started at 9 am, at the Galerie hall, where coffee and croissants were available.... to warm our hearts.
The theme of our gathering, led by Father Vincent Grillet, was "Where is our hope? a question we all ask ourselves sometimes.
In order to help us answer the question, Father Grillet referred us to our own personal experience, to recall God's interventions in our lives, to recognize his wonders and to express our gratitude. Following in the footsteps of the first disciples, we have been able to name the people who have had an impact on us, and who may have led us to Jesus.
Our vocation is nurtured by our relationship with God through prayer, which draws us into his gaze, helping us to take our focus off ourselves, to open up to others and to what God has to offer us. In an intimate conversation with God, our prayer is open to the Holy Spirit, who speaks to our hearts and minds.
Pope Francis reminds us of the importance of a personal encounter with the love of Jesus who saves us, in order to reveal it and to make it known.
Following in the footsteps of those who have been witnesses for us, we are invited to be witnesses for others, encouraging them to live out their calling as Christ followers. In "The Joy of the Gospel" (86), Pope Francis calls us to be those people who "give others something to drink".
At the opening of the Eucharistic celebration, we were able to share a few examples of encounters where we were led to express our faith.
The quality of the liturgy, in French and in English, and the arathi created an atmosphere of prayer and recollection in union with our Sisters of the Grand Chêne (Home for the Aged).
After a time of prayer, we shared the meal with joy, and appreciated the time to have happy conversations and catching up with each other.
The second part of the day was divided into two parts:
In the first part, Sr Marie Louise Vulliez presented us with a booklet called "Brushstrokes on a Charism" from our Italian Sisters, highlighting the relevance of a spirituality that is lived out on a daily basis.
Then followed the greetings to Sister Breda, who joined us for mass with her Council, and for whom we have prayed.
Sister Anila and Sister Anna once again dazzled us with dances from their homeland. What flexibility and finesse!
Sister Elisabeth Udrisard reminded us of some welcoming folk songs!
Sister Breda thanked us for our prayers and expressed her joy at having had such a good time with us.
To make our wishes come true, Sister Tessy and her team gave her cards and gifts from the communities.
Sister Margaret reiterated some of the highlights of the morning's talk that had impressed her and encouraged us to move forward in the joy of sharing things that give us life.
At the end of this very enriching day, everyone was able to return to their communities, with hearts full of joy, after sharing tea and cake!
