I am Sr. Prasanthi. I completed my GNM in Father Muller College of Nursing at Mangalore, India and my BSc Nursing in Sarvodaya College of Nursing at Bangalore. At present I am doing my MSc Nursing in Bangalore
After completing my GNM, I worked for 2 years as a staff nurse in Surgical, Orthopedics and General Wards. It was really a great experience for me to serve different kinds of patients. There I came to know the importance of life and good health. I felt to be privileged to serve them in different ways. I witnessed Jesus by taking up difficult tasks like dressing the burns patients which takes more than 3- 4 hours.
After that I worked for 3 years with HIV AIDS patients in our own health centre. It was an altogether new experience to give myself for the service of those who were rejected. It taught me about how certain patients feel their loneliness in society when they have these kinds of illnesses.
Then I came to Agartala, where I am at present, we have a newly opened hospital where all sorts of patients are seen with the help of a doctor and alternate months by specialists from Chennai. I am indeed happy to be the part of this mission hospital in the north-eastern region.
I am also the President of Health Commission of the Diocese of Agartala. We have medical camps and health awareness camps in remote villages. I feel extremely happy and proud to be a nurse and personally value this as a noble profession.
