I am Sr. Susan Armond. I trained as a General Nurse at Westminster Hospital London from 1966 to 1970. I stayed on for a year as a staff nurse before training as a Midwife at Mill Road Maternity Hospital, Cambridge. I then spent 6 months at the Middlesex Hospital in Central London as a staff nurse. From there I joined the Sisters of St. Joseph at Llantarnam Abbey, South Wales. I nursed for 24 years at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Newport, South Wales. During those years I went back to the Middlesex Hospital to undertake the Operating Department Course. After I retired from the operating theatre at St. Joseph’s I cared for the elderly/infirm Sisters in a unit in Llantarnam Abbey set apart for them. Now during Covid-19 I have dipped my toe back in the water being on standby for this unit should it be necessary. I have loved all aspects of nursing. It has been such a worthwhile work of service.
